Rainymap is a free, real-time weather visualization tool built for one job: showing you exactly what’s happening in the sky right now, without clutter or a seven-day forecast getting in the way.
Our Mission
We built Rainymap because most weather apps bury the live radar under forecasts, ads, and unrelated features. Rainymap strips that away: open the site, see live rain, wind, lightning, or temperature data for your location or any of the 2,300+ cities and regions we cover, and get on with your day.
How Our Data Works
Our radar maps are rendered with MapLibre GL and draw live precipitation tile data from the RainViewer public API, refreshed automatically every 5 minutes. Basemap tiles are provided by CARTO. We don’t run our own weather satellites or radar stations — we focus on making publicly available radar data fast, clear, and easy to read for any location worldwide.
Who We Are
Rainymap is built and maintained by a small, independent team focused on real-time weather visualization tools. We’re not a national weather service or a meteorological agency — we’re developers who built the radar viewer we personally wanted to use, and decided to share it.
