Live Rain Radar for Bangalore, Karnataka

← Karnataka, India

Bangalore sits on the Deccan Plateau at over 900 meters elevation, giving it a milder climate than most Indian metros despite lying well south. The city gets rain from both the southwest monsoon (June-September) and a secondary wet spell during the October-November northeast monsoon, giving it two distinct rainy periods rather than one. Rapid urbanization has paved over many of the lakes and stormwater channels that historically absorbed excess rain, so short, intense downpours now regularly flood low-lying junctions and IT corridors within an hour of onset, even though total annual rainfall is moderate by Indian standards.
