Live Rain Radar for Marseille, Provence-Alpes-Cote-d-Azur

← Provence-Alpes-Cote-d-Azur, France

Marseille has a classic Mediterranean climate, averaging around 550 mm (about 22 inches) of rain a year, concentrated mainly in autumn and winter with a long, reliably dry summer. When rain does arrive, it can come as intense, fast-moving Mediterranean storm systems capable of dropping a large share of the month’s total in just a few hours, sometimes triggering flash flooding in the region’s many small rivers and streams. The Mistral wind, a strong, dry northerly wind, often follows these storms and clears skies quickly. Because the dry-to-intense-storm transition can happen so fast here, radar is particularly useful during the autumn storm season. Météo-France operates the national radar network covering the region.
