Live Rain Radar for Split, Split-Dalmatia County

← Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia

Split, on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, has a Mediterranean climate with around 800 mm (about 31 inches) of rain a year, concentrated heavily in autumn and winter with a long, dry, tourist-season summer. Autumn storms moving in off the Adriatic can be intense, sometimes bringing torrential short-term rainfall capable of flash flooding in the narrow streets of the historic city center, a well-known local hazard after the dry summer season leaves drainage systems unused for months. The surrounding karst limestone terrain also means water can behave unpredictably, sometimes surfacing in unexpected places during heavy rain. Because the shift from dry summer to sudden autumn storms happens quickly, radar tracking during that transition is genuinely useful. Croatia’s DHMZ operates the national radar network.
