Live Rain Radar for Malmo, Skane County

← Skane County, Sweden

Malmö, in southern Sweden just across the strait from Copenhagen, receives around 620 mm (about 24 inches) of rain a year, fairly evenly spread through the seasons in a climate that shares some characteristics with nearby Denmark given its southern, coastal position. Short, sharp showers driven by systems moving through the Danish straits are common, and the city’s flat, low-lying terrain means heavy short-term rain can cause localized street flooding faster than in hillier parts of Sweden. Summer convective storms add a further, more sudden hazard on warm afternoons. Because Malmö’s position exposes it to weather systems from multiple directions, radar tracking is a genuinely practical daily tool. SMHI operates the national weather radar network.
