Live Rain Radar for Gothenburg, Vastra Gotaland County

← Vastra Gotaland County, Sweden

Gothenburg, on Sweden’s west coast, is considerably wetter than Stockholm, averaging around 750 mm (about 30 inches) of rain a year thanks to its direct exposure to Atlantic weather systems moving in over the North Sea and Skagerrak. Rain here falls more frequently and in a more even spread across the year than on the sheltered east coast. As a major port city, sudden shifts in weather matter for shipping and logistics as much as for daily life. Short, sharp coastal showers are common, sometimes arriving quickly with little warning. Because the west coast climate is genuinely wetter and more changeable, radar is a more routinely used tool here than further east. SMHI operates the national weather radar network.
