Live Rain Radar for Linz, Upper Austria

← Upper Austria, Austria

Linz sits on the Danube in northern Austria and receives around 800 mm (about 31 inches) of rain a year, with a summer peak from convective storms typical of the region. The Danube has a long history of significant flooding during periods of sustained heavy rain across its wider central European watershed, a slower-moving but more severe risk than the short, sharp summer thunderstorms that affect the city more routinely. Because these two hazards work on very different timescales, radar is specifically useful for tracking the faster-developing local storms rather than the river’s broader flood cycle. GeoSphere Austria operates the national weather radar network covering the region.
