Live Rain Radar for Braga, Braga District

← Braga District, Portugal

Braga, in Portugal’s green, hilly Minho region, is one of the wettest parts of the country, averaging around 1,400 mm (about 55 inches) of rain a year as Atlantic moisture is forced upward by the surrounding hills. The wet season runs from autumn through spring, while summer stays mostly dry, though short thunderstorms can occur during the warmer months. Because of its higher rainfall and hillier terrain compared with coastal Portuguese cities, the surrounding countryside can see faster runoff and localized flooding in low-lying river valleys during the heaviest events. Radar tracking is genuinely useful here for judging the intensity of an approaching band rather than just its arrival. Portugal’s IPMA operates the national weather radar network.
