La Massana, in northwestern Andorra close to some of the principality’s highest peaks, sits in one of the more mountainous parishes, with a climate defined by intense summer convective storms and substantial winter snowfall at higher elevations. The steep valleys and slopes surrounding the town make it particularly prone to fast-moving flash floods and debris flows during the heaviest summer rain events. Because this is among the most mountainous parts of Andorra, local weather here can differ noticeably even from the nearby capital just a short drive away.
