Live Rain Radar for Birkirkara, Central Region

← Central Region, Malta

Birkirkara, one of Malta’s largest towns near the center of the island, shares the same Mediterranean climate as Valletta, receiving around 550 mm (about 22 inches) of rain a year concentrated in autumn and winter. Malta’s dense urban development and limited natural drainage mean that intense storms, even relatively brief ones, can cause flash flooding on low-lying streets across the island’s built-up central towns. Because the island is small and storms can affect it quite uniformly, conditions tracked over Valletta are generally relevant here too, though radar still helps pinpoint exactly where the heaviest rain is falling at a given moment. Malta’s national meteorological office operates the country’s radar network.
