Live Rain Radar for Tirana, Tirana County

← Tirana County, Albania

Tirana, Albania’s capital, has a Mediterranean climate with around 1,300 mm (about 51 inches) of rain a year, concentrated heavily in autumn and winter with a long, dry summer. Being close to the mountains that rise sharply behind the city, Tirana catches significantly more rain than the Albanian coast, with intense autumn storms sometimes producing flash flooding in the rivers and streams that drain the surrounding hills. Because the dry summer leaves drainage systems relatively unused, the first heavy autumn rains tend to cause disproportionate disruption compared with storms later in the wet season. Albania’s Institute of Geosciences, Energy, Water and Environment operates the national radar network.
