Live Rain Radar for Kaunas, Kaunas County

← Kaunas County, Lithuania

Kaunas sits at the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris rivers in central Lithuania and receives around 640 mm (about 25 inches) of rain a year, with a summer peak from convective storms typical of the region. The Nemunas has a history of spring flooding tied to snowmelt further upstream, a slower, more seasonal risk compared with the faster local thunderstorms that affect the city more routinely in summer. Because these two hazards unfold so differently, radar is most useful for tracking the faster-moving summer storms. Lithuania’s Hydrometeorological Service operates the national radar network.
