Live Rain Radar for Patras, Western Greece

← Western Greece, Greece

Patras, on the Gulf of Patras in western Greece, receives around 700 mm (about 28 inches) of rain a year, notably more than Athens given its more westerly, mountain-adjacent position that catches more of the moisture moving in off the Ionian Sea. The wet season runs from autumn through early spring, while summer stays dry. As a major port city, sudden shifts in weather have practical implications for ferry traffic connecting Greece with Italy. Intense autumn storms can bring locally heavy rainfall to the surrounding hills, occasionally triggering landslides on steeper terrain nearby. Because western Greece is genuinely wetter than the Athens region, radar is a more routinely useful tool here. Greece’s National Meteorological Service operates the national radar network.
