Live Rain Radar for Liberec, Liberec Region

← Liberec Region, Czech Republic

Liberec, close to the Czech Republic’s northern mountains bordering Poland and Germany, is notably wetter than Prague, receiving around 780 mm (about 31 inches) of rain a year as the surrounding Jizera Mountains force moist air upward and intensify rainfall. Summer brings the most intense convective storms, capable of significant local flooding and landslides on the steeper mountain slopes nearby, a recognized regional hazard during the wettest weeks. Because mountain terrain here creates such sharp local variation in rainfall compared with the rest of the country, radar is genuinely more useful than a broad national forecast. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute operates the national radar network.
